Ponderosa VFD STATION 3

Ponderosa VFD New Training Facility

Your fire department will host a dedication of the new training facility on October 4, 2003 beginning at 10 am.  The facility is located at fire station #3, 21455 Imperial Valley Drive (between Richey Road and FM1960 east of IH45).  The short ceremony will initiate the use of the facility that has been under development for over two years.

The Ponderosa Volunteer Fire Association, Inc. had a vision in 1992 when the land was donated for an additional fire station.  Working closely with the Northview and Willow West subdivisions, and water district #154, we designed the facility for minimal impact to the community.  The net result is lowered homeowners’ insurance rates and improved training capabilities for our fire fighters.  We hope to see you there.

Harris County has recently implemented the Neighborhood Early Warning System (NEWS) to allow mass telephone contacts during emergency situations.  The system will be transparent to you and will allow local authorities to alert neighborhoods when danger threatens.  Typical situations include toxic fumes, a missing person, criminal activity, and shelter-in-place or evacuation instructions.  If danger (such as bad weather) affects the entire area, NEWS may NOT call.  Instead, please consult radio or TV.
