Ponderosa Fire Department Round Up

July 2008

FREE Smoke Detectors

The Ponderosa Fire Department has partnered with Wayne Wright Lawyers Charitable Campaign to install free smoke detectors in your home.  A very simple process is to call us at 281-444-8465 to set up an appointment and our firefighters will come to your home to install the smoke detector(s).

The spark of the campaign was the tragic fire’s that took place over the 2006-year and holiday season. Wayne Wright and his associates decided to make a difference. Smoke Alarms in Every Home” was ignited on December 15, 2006.  Wayne Wright states, “ Every person, in every home, deserves the protection that a smoke alarm provides. It is unbelievable to think that there are families in our community living in homes without this simple lifesaving device, so we have decided to make smoke alarms available free of charge to families.” He and his lawyers are committed to donating and educating this need for smoke alarms.  Alex Wright quotes San Antonio Express News “We saw that children were perishing, and that’s when Wayne decided we’d better do something for the community.”

Even if you don’t participate in this program, please take the time to check your smoke detectors on a regular basis.

The July 4th Holiday brings fireworks – please be careful and closely supervise your children.  Be aware that some subdivision deed restrictions ban fireworks and that some areas around us are within Houston’s Special Purpose Annexation where they can confiscate fireworks and cite the individual.  These areas are generally adjacent to FM1960.
